one of the best features of this property is the two distinctly different architectural styles of the main residence and guest cottage, says listing agent Stewart Metcalfe of Colliers Macaulay Nicholls.

“The owners blended the traditional main cottage with a very modern guest cottage built in two pods, one for living and one with two bedrooms and a bathroom. They have also kept two original sleeping cabins intact,” he says.

The exposed granite shoreline has two inlets that separate the 1,196-square-foot main residence and the 550-sq.-ft. guest cottage and that also offer privacy from neighbouring homes.

The property gets “the best sunsets in Pointe au Baril and has incredible exposed granite jutting out into the open waters of Georgian Bay. Both cottages are set back in the protected inlets,” Mr. Metcalfe says.

The more-than-four-acre property has approximately 1,818 feet of water frontage and is close to the Ojibway Club.

This property would appeal to “anyone keen on getting the coveted sunset view and also to multi-generational families looking for independent cottages,” Mr. Metcalfe says.

On a rock outcropping is a sculpture designed as a modern version of the infamous “barrel” that marks the channel entering into Pointe au Baril, Mr. Stewart says. Local lore says Pointe au Baril was named after a whisky barrel that was placed on the point in the 1870s to mark the dangerous entry from the bay to the channel.

designed by Canadian artist robert Murray, the cut-sheetmetal sculpture can be enjoyed from land or water. The artist’s works are part of many collections, including that of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Montreal Museum of Art and the National Gallery of Canada.
