A British beautician has become a global sensation after wondering on Twitter why “Barraco Barner” — “our president” — was getting involved with Russia. Within hours, Gemma Worrall’s message had been retweeted thousands of times and, despite deleting it, her online musing had appeared on news programs as far away as Australia. “If barraco barner is our president why is he getting involved with Russia, scary,” she wrote after watching news about Ukraine. Reaction was instant and not very polite. Some called it a new low for “dumb Britain,” others called her a “stupid cow” and an “oxygen thief.” “Some of the comments I was getting were funny and I could have a good laugh at myself but others were just brutal and extreme and they were coming from all over the world,” Ms. Worrall, 20, from the northern city of Blackpool told the British press. “I might have had a bit of a ditzy moment but I don’t deserve to be called such horrible names. I am harmless and didn’t mean to offend anyone with my tweet.” One reply asked her, “Could you give us your insight on the situation in You Crayon and how #barracobarner should deal with Voldemort Poo Tin?” She later tweeted, “I hope I haven’t offended the real @ Barack Obama with my tweet but it was just a question I was curious about #sorry.’’
