We’re listening ...

To Girl, the new album from Pharrell Williams (and his hat) that continues on from where Get Lucky left off. Fun, light and irresistibly sexy, it’s nice when dance music rocks but doesn’t offend. (Cough Blurred Lines cough cough.)

We’re falling hard for ...

St. Vincent’s new self-titled album. Since Gen-Y darling Annie Erin Clark teamed with modern pop maverick David Byrne for her last LP, she seems virtually unstoppable, and it’s nice to hear the brassy influence of the horn revelation of her outing with the Talking Heads frontman still front and centre here, even in keyboard lines, giving an orchestral edge to the otherwise often dour and limp indie rock

We’re prepping ...

On the eve of Austin’s South by Southwest festival with repeat plays of “10,000 Towns,” the new album by Texas’s own Eli Young Band. We’ve been waiting for it since their infectious hit single Drunk Last Night.

We’ve stopped ...

Trusting David Denby’s reviews of anything at all. Ask yourself: When was the last time The New Yorker’s elder film critic steered you right? It’s way past time to admit that Kaelism died with Pauline Kael.
