“A few angry San Franciscans who don’t have a song called ‘Giants’ won’t rain on our parade.” — Tony Lorino, program director of radio station KZPT -FM in Kansas City, in a statement on the station’s website quoted by The Associated Press. Lorino’s station is fighting back against two San Francisco stations that have banned teenage pop star Lorde’s song called Royals from their Bay area airways for the duration of the World Series between the teams representing the two cities. KZPT will play the song ever hour between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday, the day the series begins in Kansas City. Lorde previously told VH1 that a photo of Royals Hall of Famer George Brett signing autographs helped inspire her song when she saw the word “Royals” on his uniform. After this month’s added airplay she can release a new song called Royalties.
