The 2015 Subaru Legacy was named the Canadian Car of the Year by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) during press preview day Thursday at this year’s Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto.

The Legacy beat out the Volkswagen Golf, the Hyundai Genesis and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the three other finalists vying for this year’s Car of the Year award.

However, that doesn’t mean those cars walked away empty-handed — AJAC named the Volkswagen Golf this year’s Best New Small Car over $21,000 and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class was recognized as the Best New Luxury Car under $50,000, while the Hyundai Genesis is the Best New Luxury Car over $50,000.

This year’s Utillity Vehicle of the Year went to the 2015 Ford F-150, which beat out the Subaru Outback and the Porsche Macan. The Outback was recognized as AJAC’s Best new CUV under $35,000 and the Macan won AJAC’s Best New CUV over $60,000 category.

AJAC’s Utility Vehicle of the Year marks the F-150’s second win, which was recently named the North American Truck of the Year last month at the Detroit auto show.

Along with this year’s Canadian Car and Utility Vehicle of the Year awards, the Ford F-150’s all-aluminum body was recognized as this year’s best new innovation technology, while this year’s safety technology award went to Acura’s AcuraWatch Drive Assist. Those winners were announced last month at the Montreal auto show.
