Why the church exists
Re: Seeking A Place To Worship, May 2. Michael Coren seems not to understand that the Roman Catholic Church does not exclude gays. The church exists for the salvation of all people, therefore it excludes no one. What the church does do is call us all to live according to God’s laws, for our own good. This is one way in which the church shows God’s love for all people.
If we see parents who don’t correct the destructive behaviour of their own children, we consider them to be irresponsible. Should we not expect God to warn us against behaviour that he knows is damaging to our souls? I believe Coren is a good man and means well, but he appears to have lost sight of the reason for the church’s existence.
