Blue Jays 3 Yankees 1

-

Pinch hitter Russell Martin drove in the go-ahead runs in the eighth inning as the Toronto Blue Jays slipped past the New York Yankees 3-1 on Monday. Knuckleballer R.A. Dickey (1-3) pitched eight innings for Toronto (13-14), giving up one run on three hits and three walks. It was a tight game for the first six innings of play. The Jays’ Edwin Encarnacion tied the game 1-1 for Toronto in the bottom of the eighth with a one-out double. That plated Josh Donaldson and advanced Jose Bautista to third. Kevin Pillar then hit an infield fly before Martin hit a single up the third-base line to drive in Bautista. Encarnacion crossed home on an error on the same play to give the Blue Jays a 3-1 lead.
