THE HEIGHT OF GLAMOUR

Eatertainment goes 51 floors up to host a most stylish soirée

- Amoryn Engel

Sebastien Centner knows how to throw a party. The president and CEO of Eatertainment recently hosted Canadian celebutantes at One Eighty, atop the Manulife Centre in Toronto. Fifty-one floors up, to be exact. When guests weren’t enjoying the extraordinary panoramic view, they were snacking on delectable dishes, like the restaurant’s mini chicken and waffles, Sicilian gnocchi and cheesecake cannoli. One of the super-stylish guests was overheard saying, “not sure what is more beautiful, the food, the view or the people!” Among the revellers bopping about were media personality Marilyn Denis, fashion blogger Jay Strut, and Holt Renfrew’s VP of exclusive services Lisa Tant, media personality Sharlene Chiu and Schitt’s Creek’s Sarah Levy. When in restaurant mode, servers

visit tables between courses, offering exclusive gastronomic items and specialty cocktails from stylish bar carts. Think dim sum without the dumplings. “I had seen similar concepts pop up over the past couple of years in Europe and the U.S. and loved the ability it gives us to keep the meal flowing,” Sebastien says. “The dishes are all small enough, like amuse bouche dishes, to serve as bridges between courses, and we focus strongly on flavours that really stand out. The idea being that these dishes add to the overall dining experience.”

Oh, and the double rainbow at the end of the night? Well played, Mr. Centner! What fun!

Daniel Greenglass and Joe Brennan threw open the doors of their sprawling College Street abode to host a fundraiser for the WaterStone Foundation, for eating disorder research, treatment and education. The foundation was founded by Kim Duffy, inspired by her daughter’s struggle with an eating disorder. “When our daughter was diagnosed with an eating disorder, we were fortunate to afford the extensive treatment in Canada and U.S.A., but we quickly became aware that not everyone has access to this kind of care,” Duffy says. “We felt compelled to give back to those in need and that is why we created the WaterStone Foundation.” Major sponsors included: Joe Brennan and Daniel J. Greenglass, Michael and Libby Gold, Debbie and Warren Kimel, Gerry Schwartz and Heather Reisman, Larry and Judy Tanenbaum, Jonas

and Lynda Prince, Paul Austin, Joanne Stansfield, Tony

and Lina Gagliano, and John and Myrna Daniels.
