survey says that most of us would sacrifice in order to get a cottage

-

Cottaging in Ontario is getting wild. The year-over-year number of sales and the median price increased in Muskoka, Peterborough and the Kawarthas, Haliburton and Wasaga. Kawartha prices topped the list, rising 27.9% in a year; waterfront properties there now command a median $515,700, up from last year’s $403,000. The 2015 Re/Max Recreational Property Report attributes this to luxury purchasers moving to Stony and Clear lakes, having been crowded out of the Muskokas. Re/Max also found that 66.3% of Ontarians would rather spend a long weekend at the cottage than go on a big-city getaway 24% of them would downsize in order to buy a cottage 41.7% would buy with family in order to afford a dream cottage 40% would likely give up going abroad for their annual summer vacation.
