Feel good sports book of how hard work pays off in the end. All about delayed gratification. D’Arcy Philp A sweet coming of age story of perseverance & a realization that you are the creator of your own story. Parker’s powerful prose convinced me to get off the couch & just run.

Nerina Field Truly loved this book. I would recommend this to read to your boys and girls in the elementary school system. Theresa Gardiner Written to appeal to young adult male readers. Gave interesting detail on the art of playing basketball and the joy of running and competing. The story describes beautifully what commitment and endurance it takes to be a runner. Lori

Vance Grit, determination and talent are all blended together into Quenton Cassidy’s character, who succeeds in becoming a state running champion. Woven into the story are some colourful characters that made up part of the 60’s Florida landscape.

Bonnie McLellan Captivating story of a boy growing up in Florida and becoming a champion racer. With perseverance, the help of coaches and friends, he endures hard training to realize his dreams.

John Barrons Determination, endurance, self-worth and the assurance of knowing others believe in your abilities can push you beyond your wildest dreams. Reminds me of a time when children could just go out and play. Sandra

Norris For some reason, one of the best writers on running writes a Hardy Boys mystery channelling Carl Hiaasen

with basketball.

David Yoon Imagine Gilmore Girls, the book. But Rory is a boy and he’s a jock. You watch him grow up, so of course you’re cheering him on, even though his success is a forgone conclusion. Jennifer Hart Vivid descriptions make you feel you are shoulder to shoulder with the main character as he matures and runs during the early 60’s in Florida. Draws you in from the opening paragraphs until the last lines. Carol

Rumak We can all relate to the sheer joy of beating the odds and a sense of accomplishment after hard work, no matter the activity. Great read! Mary Jane Beingessner Never give up on your dreams, puddle jump all the way! Janet Stratis I liked how the book captured the spirit of an athlete and his intensity and dedication. The characters love of sport is really what drives the story.

Erin Tito An inspiring story that shows just what a young athlete can do when they put in the effort and time to reach their goals. Danielle Desmarais-Clace An amazing book, a story of commitment and determination. Quenton never gives up despite the obstacles put in his way.
