Gee Beauty celebrates 10 triumphant years
Well, I can say I knew them when. When Natalie and Celene Gee, lived just down the street from me, and sister Stephanie was a baby. I taught the girls tennis and we would sometimes watch the Young & The Restless before they had to run home to mom, Miriam. They were as beautiful, creative and amazing then as they are today. The fabulous foursome, otherwise known as the “Gee girls” celebrated 10 years at their must-do boutique beauty bar, Gee Beauty, and the city came out in force! The Gee women and their gorgeous team continue to inspire the industry by providing exceptional services and beauty products to women in Toronto, Bal Harbour and throughout North America via geebeauty.com. The emphasis of this fete was on fun, where some fashionable guests puckered up for the kissing photo booth, which captured guests in Gee Beauty’s signature red lipstick, while others spilled out of the little jewel box onto the street where Freshii and Greenhouse Juice Co. offered frozen yogurt and cold-pressed juice. The party wrapped up with an impromptu dance party in the streets of Rosedale, sparked by the cool beats of DJ Natalie. Their gals are taking over the beauty world, one boutique at a time! Wendy Eagan threw open the doors of Tiffany’s flagship store on Bloor Street to welcome a thirsty TIFF crowd, who had come straight from a variety of screenings. At the party, actress Amber Heard made an absolutely gorgeous appearance in Tiffany & Co. diamonds, prior to accompanying husband Johnny Depp to his TIFF premiere of Black Mass. The Social
co-host Melissa Grelo was spotted trying on many a sparkler from the newest collections on offer, and she wasn’t the only one with impeccable taste. Between the bubbles and the bling, it was a night to remember! Earlier in the week, Tiffany & Co. along with Women in Film Los Angeles and Women in Film & Television Toronto hosted an exclusive luncheon and panel discussion at the Gardiner Museum during the Toronto International Film Festival. The focus was “Women in Entertainment: Where We Are Today and What the Future Holds.”
Heather Webb, Executive Director of Women in Film & Television moderated the conversation with panellists
Susan Cartsonis, producer of What Women Want and
Catherine Hardwicke, director of Miss You Already and Twilight and Patricia
Rozema, writer/director of Into the Forest and Mansfield Park. It was a mad-crush of celebrity chefs and scenesters who descended on the new Café Boulud for a late night of fun and beyond scrumptious food. The new and improved room by designer Martin
Brudnizki is so beautiful; think modern brasserie where you just want to snuggle up in a gorgeous banquette and never leave. When not choosing from the expansive selection of charcuterie and Canadian cheeses on display or cozying up to the bronze and glass dining counter and bar, guests settled into the new ribbed banquets upholstered in jaguar green and tan leather or the relaxed retro chairs in an opulent oxblood ruched leather. “I’m very happy to welcome Toronto to the new Café Boulud and kick off the Food & Wine Festival with some very special guests,” said Chef Daniel Boulud. “I appreciate Canada’s culinary talent welcoming me with open arms, including my co-host for this evening, the lovely Gail Simmons, who I’ve known since she was very young, as well as chefs Mark McEwan, Jason Bangerter and David Hawksworth. The new Café Boulud is a little more comfortable and a little more French. We hope you enjoy it tonight, and many more times to come.” Don’t to walk to Café Boulud, run!
