That’s a wrap!
The Shoebox Project finds great gifties at Holt Renfrew
It was a great gaggle of gals who hotfooted it to Holt Renfrew stores across the country support The Shoebox Project. The non-profit founded by Caroline Mulroney Lapham and sisters-in-law Katy, Jessica and Vanessa has exploded across the country, providing women who are living in shelters with some basic personal care items like deodorant, toothpaste and socks, but also by providing some other “luxury” items like makeup, skin care products. In between trying on au courant stilettos and ankle boots, the crowd kept their credit cards busy. A portion of proceeds from footwear sales were donated to the organization, and clients were encouraged to leave their shoeboxes behind after shopping. Holt Renfrew employee volunteers will be filling these boxes with much needed supplies and donating to The Shoebox Project over the holiday season. “This event
raised funds for the Shoebox Project but it is also a celebration of our wonderful partnership with Holt Renfrew!” enthused Mulroney Lapham, co-founder, The Shoebox Project for Shelters supported by Dream. “For three years, Holt Renfrew employees have made and delivered gifts to thousands of women in shelters across Canada. We are very fortunate to have them as a partner.”
Last year, the Shoebox Project delivered gifts to 17,000 women through 270 shelters in 72 communities across Canada. This year’s upbeat soirée, held at the Four Seasons Hotel, had all the drama and entertainment we’ve come to love as Canadian gem Colm
Feore was honoured. One of this country’s most celebrated actors, he has brought to life some of the greatest characters in classical theatre — Lear, Hamlet, Coriolanus, Romeo and Richard III. Friends and family came out to celebrate the icon. The highlight of the night was the hilarious musical tribute from his Stratford pals Juan Chioran, Scott Wentworth
and Geraint Wyn Davies, and who could forget the moving performance by Feore’s daughter Anna, which brought the room to tears. “In an elegant setting, it was like celebrating with family,” said Antoni Cimolino, artistic director of the Stratford Festival. “I am very proud of Colm and the opportunity to honour his wonderful career at Stratford and beyond.” Gala cochairs Barry Avrich, Sylvia Chrominska and Wendy Pitblado helped to put on quite a show! Unforgettable, from beginning to end.
