North Korea adds to sabre rattling, claiming it has developed H bomb
North Korea is ready to detonate a hydrogen bomb to “defend its sovereignty and the dignity of the nation,” leader Kim Jong Un, pictured, said Thursday. South Korean intelligence dismissed the claim. “We don’t have any information that North Korea has developed an H-bomb,” an intelligence official said. “We do not believe that North Korea, which has not suc- ceeded in miniaturizing nuclear bombs, has the technology to produce an H-bomb.” In recent months, Pyongyang said it could launch a submarine ballistic missile, had made nuclear warheads small enough to fit on a missile and had restarted nuclear facilities. None of these assertions have been proved. North Korea appears to have disproven the first claim with a failed missile launch from a submarine last month.
