Fresh whole turkeys are widely available in Canada at Thanksgiving and Christmas, when families traditionally gather for a meal. Here’s how much Canadian households ate last year and when:
8.5 million whole turkeys or 51.7 million kilograms, of which 7.8 million kilograms were fresh turkeys are consumed each year.
3.8 million, or 44 per cent of the year’s total, are consumed at Christmas.
3.1 million whole turkeys, or 37 per cent of the year’s total, are consumed at Thanksgiving.
