STYLE& CONVENIENCE ON THE DANFORTH BY LISA VAN DE VEN

-

“Every model design has to be done with an imaginary buyer in mind,” says designer Carmen Dragomir, and the model at On the Danforth Condo is no exception. Styled with a downsizing couple in mind — but with an eclectic style and some youthful twists — the 882- square- foot suite mixes transitional furniture with grey walls and floors. Brightly coloured accessories and chrome accents keep the space fresh, while tying into the project’s theme. “I wanted to use yellow and green accents,” says Dragomir, of esQape Design, because “they’re the two colours of the subway lines that take you to this location.” Suites at the Diam Developments site range from 415 to 960 square feet, and start in the mid-$200,000s. The sales office is located at 2359 Danforth Ave., Toronto, and open Monday to Thursday from noon to 6 p.m. and weekends from noon to 5 p.m. Call 647-348-9009 or visit onthedanforthcondo.com.

1 Dark grey cabinets contrast with a white subway tile backsplash in the main kitchen space. For the island, though, Dragomir went a different route, opting for white high- gloss cabinets instead. White Caesarstone countertops unify the look, with a waterfall edge on the island to create the look of furniture.

2 “A splash of drama” is how Dragomir describes this living room wall, accented with a silver- and- black geometric patterned wallpaper. “That background was perfect for the white sofa because it stands out against the dark wall,” Dragomir says. Adding drama, too, are the shimmery steeltoned velvet drapes.

3 “Storage is one thing we always look at,” the designer says, and there’s plenty of it in this den- turned- home- office space. The custom built- in desk and shelving — styled in high- gloss white lacquer — “help personalize the space, so it doesn’t just look like four walls,” she adds.

4 Dragomir used colour to tie the home office in with the rest of the suite, choosing a mustard yellow chair and green and chrome accessories — all purchased from Casalife and HomeSense. Meanwhile, the mirrored sunglasses on the wall, ordered from Amazon, add “a little fun,” Dragomir says.
