Re: Pulling CF-18s Is Canada’s Disgrace, John Ivison, Jan. 20. If U. S. Secretary of Defence Ash Carter wants Canada to live up to its financial commitment to NATO and America’s military ambitions, perhaps its time the U. S. lived up to its commitments t o Canada under NAFTA. Canadian businesses have had to fight one battle after another against America’s non- tariff barriers to trade, including the Keystone pipeline. Financial commitments to increase military spending can only emerge from a healthy economy — something that now looks like a distant dream.
