BUYERS MEEK AS LAMBS OVER “SILENCE” HOUSE

-

“Home for sale, dungeon not included” is how the local newspaper announced the listing of the house used in the film Silence of the Lambs. The house that character Buffalo Bill lived in was the second-most clicked listing on realtor.com last year, but still hasn’t sold. The 1910 four-square has four spacious bedrooms and original wood trim. An hour outside Pittsburgh, the house started at $300,000, but is down to $249,900. The realtor suggests it could be used as a horror-themed bed-and-breakfast (even though the only parts that were used for filming was the foyer and dining room; the dungeon was shot in a soundstage). See businessinsider. com for photos. Why hasn’t it sold? It might be the fussy, dark Victorian decor, but maybe folks are turned off by the prospect of living in a town called Perryopolis.
