SLAIGHT FAMILY FOUNDATION GIVES $11M TO 11 CHARITIES

The Rick Hansen Foundation, the Children’s Wish Foundation and Special Olympics Canada are among 11 charities from across the country that will share an $11-million donation from the Slaight Family Foundation. “We hope these gifts provide them with the resources to help children lead healthy, successful and positive lives,” Gary Slaight, pictured, the foundation’s CEO, said Friday in Toronto. It is an investment in “shaping the health of our country.” The grants will help underwrite the At- Risk Scholarship Fund at Pathways to Education Canada, enabling students to attend universities and colleges, and helping youth to graduate from high school. The program will provide important help, such as first and last months’ rent, and moving expenses.
