AWOL CIVIL SERVANT TO REPAY WAGES

-

A civil servant who failed to show up to work for years must repay about one year in wages, a Spanish court has ruled. The employee of a city- owned water utility didn’t appear at the office for up to six years and “did absolutely no work” from 2007 to 2010 before his retirement in 2011, the ruling said. Cadiz city officials were about to honour the worker for 20 years of service and realized he hadn’t been seen at work for a long time.
