Cold War comfort

Re: Missing The Cold War?, Matt Gurney, Feb. 10.

As someone who was born after 1980 and is a military history major, I can understand why Matt Gurney feels nostalgia for the “simpler days” of the Cold War. The days of the Strategic Air Command, the Fulda Gap and the U. S. Navy’s Sound Surveillance System ( SOSUS) seemed much more ordered and logical than what we deal with today. Those were the days.
