The triumph of youth

- Amoryn Engel Financial Post

This past week, influencers and Bay Street types found beauty truly is only skin deep. An intimate group came together at La Société in Toronto to celebrate the launch of a new beauty line — and there were no skin creams to sample or face masks to apply.

Businesswoman Belinda Stronach and Dr. Holly Fennell invited guests to learn about Age Quencher, a new Canadian line of ingestible beauty products: a vitamin, an electrolyte and a protein powder that have been specifically created to intercept the symptoms of aging at the cellular level. While demand for ingestible skin care has been high in Asia and Europe for some time, the trend is only starting to take hold in North America. Global Industry Analysts estimates the category will be worth $4 billion by 2017.

Age Quencher products are certified as Natural Health Products (NHP) by Health Canada and are manufactured in accordance with current good manufacturing practices (cGMPs) for nutritional supplements. “It’s certainly not news to anyone that what we put into our bodies has a significant impact on both how we feel and how we look,” explains Dr. Fennell, adding, “and yet we continue to rub cream on our faces and expect dramatic change. Skin is actually the largest organ in our bodies and the science shows the best way to care for your skin is at the cellular level. Where it counts — on the inside.”
