ENJOY CULTURAL WEEKEND FOR VICTORIA DAY

-

Fans of Frank Lloyd Wright will be thrilled to hear that this year’s Wright Plus Housewalk — an annual fundraising and educational tour just outside Chicago — will feature the William Winslow House. Not open to the public for 39 years, the house was the architect’s first independent commission and exhibits his first real foray into a look that led to his iconic style. The deep overhang of the hip roof, the horizontal bands and central fireplace are present in all his later Prairie houses. Also on the walking tour are his Harry Adams House, Thomas Gale House, Goodrich House, as well as four houses of colleagues, and the Wright Home and Studio. Tickets are US$110 each and sell out fast. There’s also a deluxe four-day Ultimate Plus package that includes private access, dining and hotel. Visit flwright.org/wrightplus for all the details.
