SO LONG, HOTEL PORNO

- Andre Ramshaw, Postmedia News

The world’s largest hotel group is being shorn of porn amid declining interest and pressure from campaigners against sexual exploitation. Inter-Continental Hotels Group says its decision to ban on-demand pornography from its 5,000 global properties will come with “strict penalties” for offenders. Pressure group the National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) says the move by IHG, which includes brands such as Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza, reflects a “new normal.” NCOSE spokeswoman Dawn Hawkins said: “Increasingly hoteliers are recognizing that pornography is an exploitive means of profit, partly due to pornography’s link to prostitution, sex trafficking and sexual violence.” But industry analysts say the demise of inroom porn is also being driven by a steady drop in revenue as guests turn to the Internet and digital devices for their adult entertainment fixes. “People just aren’t paying to use these services anymore,” one researcher told Breitbart News.
