An indoor theme park based on video games is to open in the United Arab Emirates this summer, aimed at tapping into a global games industry that was worth an estimated $29 billion last year and growing by 10 per cent annually. Hub Zero, as the 15,000-sqmetre park at Dubai’s City Walk is being branded, will feature 18 attractions as well as a section dedicated to competitive video game playing, known as e-sports. The National newspaper quoted Meraas, the company behind the project, as saying it is confident the world’s first indoor theme park based on video games will be a huge success.
