At about 180 guests, the event was on the small side. But in addition to members of Congress, White House staff and prominent donors was a small sampling of Canadians that have drifted south over the years (and who haven’t said anything partisan recently). In what may be a first for a U.S. state dinner, Trudeau brought both his mom and his in- laws.
