PREMIER ACCOSTED AT MONTREAL VIGIL FOR ORLANDO VICTIMS

-

Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard had to be rushed from the stage of a Montreal vigil commemorating victims of the Orlando tragedy Thursday night after a man shouting “Revolution” accosted him. The man, who was among the speakers, was immediately apprehended and taken away, while Couillard was quickly taken away by a phalanx of officers. The man who approached Couillard was Esteban Tor- res, 20, pictured, organizers said, a wellknown activist within the trans community. Toward the end of the vigil, attended by an estimated 3,000 people, Torres, who was standing next to Couillard, turned to the premier, shouted “Revolution” and “We will take back the street,” and threw a crumpled piece of paper at him. Some witnesses said he attempted to slap the premier.
