June 17, 1902 Physician Anna Hilliard, head of the department of obstetrics and gynecology at Women’s College Hospital from 1947-1957, was born at Morrisburg, Ont. Hilliard helped devise a simplified Pap test, used as part of cancer detection, and was the driving force in getting WCH accepted as a teaching hospital in 1956. She was a popular author, and died much too young in 1958.
