TOWER CLIMBERS RISKED DEATH WITH STUNT, OFFICIALS SAY
A teen with a propensity
for death- defying stunts may have learned a lesson after climbing a high-power transmission tower in New Brunswick. Noah Kingston, 18, has since posted on Facebook that he was “all done climbing” — provoking expressions of relief from his friends. Kingston and another teen who scaled the tower have no idea how close they were to serious injury or death, an NB Power safety official said. While it’s bad enough they climbed the tower near Saint John without safety equipment, they did so in the vicinity of powerful electrical currents, Duff Boyd, the utility’s director of health and safety, said Friday. Boyd said electricity is an “insidious killer” that can jump the conductors on the tower and badly burn anyone in the vicinity.
