Famed shooter presents never-before-seen photographs
With t he Toronto International Film Festival around the corner, the work of worldrenowned shutterbug George Pimentel is being exhibited at the Davies Condominiums Presentation Centre.
His fans, and all of his favourite bright young muses, arrived by the Uber- load to see work from his archives that had never been on display before, presented by Brandy Lane Homes.
Spruced up guests fawned over Pimentel, whose work appears regularly in publications such as People, Rolling Stone and Us Weekly.
Pimentel has met and photographed celebrities from Brad Pitt and Madonna, to Gwen Stefani and Leonardo DiCaprio.
“Leonardo DiCaprio is one of my favourite young actors,” enthused Pimentel. “Ever
since I saw The Revenant, I became obsessed with him. There’s a candid photo with him and the director that nobody has seen before. It’s special.”
Presented in black and white, the body of work evoked an oldschool Hollywood feeling.
“This exhibit just gets me really excited about TIFF,” added Pimentel. “I took the summer off, and now I’m pumped to develop a new body of work.”
The exhibit will run through Sunday, Sept.18.
It was all about change at the Shangri-La Hotel in Toronto as some fashionable ladies came together to toast the redesign of Canada’s hottest lobby space.
Dress–up was the name of the game as famed vintage collector William Banks-Blaney made the special trip from London to unveil four extraordinary ensembles from designers Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Roberto Capucci and Bob Mackie.
Guests also enjoyed a sneak peek at Pink Tartan’s Spring 2017 collection featuring ontrend casual pieces with an emphasis on white and pale blue cotton shirts and skirts.
I would have loved to be a fly on the wall to hear the conversations between Banks- Blaney and luncheon guests Barbara Amiel or Catherine Nugent — fashion icons both, with collections of gowns one could only dream of.
“The behind t he scenes work was absolutely exciting,” said Alex Filiatrault, Area Director of Sales & Marketing, Shangri- La Hotel. “There are so many layers for the launch of the newly designed Lobby Lounge. The arrival of the Couture Installation and the Pink Tartan fashion launch created a unique vibe for the hotel on it’s fourth anniversary.”
