Climate windbags

Re: “Everyone’s a climate change leader,” Lawrence Solomon, Aug 25 Lawrence Solomon hits the hypocritical nail squarely on the head, again. And in the very same issue there is an article on GE setting up a reciprocating engine plant in Welland, Ontario because of subsidies given, engines used to turn turbines or compressors in remote locations, merrily burning hydrocarbons all the way.

The vacuous stupidity of the claims to climate leadership of the Ontario government while madly subsidizing manufacturing of engines, autos, you name it, is absolutely breathtaking.

And people swallow it whole? So much stupidity, so little time to mock it all. I commend Lawrence Solomon for his exposure of climate change politics for the fraud that it really is. He hits the nail on the head when he states that “the climate change industry is abstract and ephemeral, based on ever-shifting targets and far-off projections.”

He gets it wrong, however, by stating that these projections are made “in all sincerity by politicians.” Solomon then continues stating that “a direct metric of sincerity and earnestness is not available.”

For politicians to base targets and projections on meaningless hope and unproven ideology is irresponsible. They are in a position of being stewards of public resources and do not have a mandate to govern based on such fantasy. Their mandate to govern must be based on reality with reasonable assumptions being made at every step with opposition holding them accountable. For too long Western governments have had a free ride with the public’s money regarding climate change. They say that people get the government they deserve. I hope the electorates wake up to the realities before it is too late.
