SEAT SWITCHEROO LEADS TO DUI AND OTHER CHARGES

-

Mounties are accusing two men of switching seats during a traffic stop in west-central Alberta. Police pulled over a car in Edson on Saturday, and spoke to the person in the driver’s seat. He and the man in the passenger seat were taken back to the detachment to provide breath samples. Police say both were over the legal limit. “What initially led to the suspicion was that the vehicle was actually revving while it was parked at the traffic stop,” Const. Alex Ayres told the CBC. “That led the officer into a second investigation in regards ( to) the person in the passenger seat.” Several charges, including impaired operation of a motor vehicle and impaired care or control of a vehicle, as well as obstructing a peace officer, are pending against both men.
