HABS FAN BUY SAD TO PROTEST SUBBAN TRADE

-

Hours before the Montreal Canadiens’ season debut, a fan published an open letter bashing the team for trading beloved defenceman P. K. Subban. The ad was printed in the sports section of the Montreal Gazette on Thursday. The fan, who signed the letter as Dr. CK and Family, began by thanking Subban, and said the Canadiens’ decision to trade Subban to the Nashville Predators for Shea Weber on June 29 has changed how the fan thinks about the team. “I am a season- ticket holder and life- long fan,” the fan wrote. “I truly thought that my love for the Habs was forever. I could not imagine an event that would change that. But this trade has made me feel different. Now, I feel anger, disappointment and embarrassment over the treatment of P. K. Subban by team management: the same sentiments that many fans felt after the Patrick Roy trade ( to Colorado in 1996).” The fan went on to call Subban an “amazing and influential role model.”
