In a candid interview earlier this year, Prince Harry, the “world’s most eligible bachelor," opened up about the challenges of meeting a girl- friend.
"Even if I talk to a girl, that person is then suddenly my wife, and people go knocking on her door,” he said.
Meghan Markle might want to reinforce her door right about now.
Celebrity gossip websites were agog Sunday over reports the Prince was secretly dating the American actress after they met in Canada.
British newspaper the Sunday Express reported that the “red- haired royal Romeo,” 32, was “besotted” with Markle, 35, who plays Rachel Zane on the TV legal drama Suits, which is filmed in Toronto.
It’s believed they met in May when he was in Toronto to promote the Invictus Games, an international athletic competition for wound- ed or sick military veterans.
An unnamed source told the newspaper the Prince is happier t han he has been for years.
“He’s in a very relaxed period of his life and Meghan has come along at the right time. They are taking each week as it comes and just enjoying each other’s company but it’s fair to say that they love seeing each other and there’s a definite chemistry between them,” the source was quoted as saying.
“Harry has been desperate to keep the relationship quiet because he doesn’t want to scare Meghan off. He knows things will change when their romance is public knowledge but he also knows he can’t keep it a secret for long.”
The Los Angeles- born actress has stayed with Harry at Kensington Palace and met the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the Sunday Express reported.
“William and Kate really liked her and she fitted in straight away,” an insider told the newspaper.
US Weekly reported that Markle began f ollowing Harry’s private social media account at the end of June.
She was spotted in the royal box at the Wimbledon tennis tournament on June 28 and July 4.
Markle, who is a prolific user of social media, posted several Instagram pictures of her trip to London around that time. “Gutted to be leaving # London,” she wrote underneath a photo of herself outside Buckingham Palace.
Eagle- eyed royal watchers have pointed out Markle was recently pictured on an Instagram wearing a multicoloured beaded bracelet that was similar to one worn previously by Prince Harry.
“The Instagram s nap could be one of the biggest clues yet that Harry and Meghan are dating,” Hello! magazine wrote.
The Prince talked about the challenges of meeting a girlfriend in an interview this year with the Sunday Times. “If or when I do find a girlfriend, I will do my utmost … to ensure that me and her can get to the point where we’re actually comfortable with each other before the massive invasion that is inevitably going to happen into her privacy.”
