TEEN ARRESTED AFTER REPORT OF GUN- CARRYING YOUTH

A 15- year- old boy was arrested Friday near a high school east of Halifax following reports about a youth with a firearm. The boy was arrested without incident at 8: 30 a. m., and it doesn’t appear that he was a threat to the school, Duncan MacMillan High in Sheet Harbour, N. S., said RCMP Cpl. Dal Hutchinson. “There is no indication that there was any intention to cause harm to anyone at the school,” said Hutchinson. “At no such time was anyone threatened or any harm brought to any of the students or the young man in question.” Hutchinson noted it is hunting season, but couldn’t say whether that was a factor in the incident or if the gun was recovered. He said Halifax District RCMP responded after the school reported a gun-carrying youth on a nearby trail.
