VALUABLES STOLEN FROM URNS IN TWO ONTARIO MAUSOLEUMS
Police in Burlington, Ont., say they’re investigating after a number of valuables were stolen from urns in two mausoleums. Halton regional police say the alleged thefts happened between Dec. 2 and Dec. 5 at two Burlington mausoleums — the Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery and the Bayview Crematorium, Cemetery & Mausoleum. Police say the alleged thief entered the unlocked mausoleums, and used a tool to break into niches, the locked compartments where urns are stored. Those urns contain cremated remains, and sometimes objects that were important to the deceased. Investigators say that valuables and sentimental property were stolen from the niches, including wedding bands, necklaces, charms and bracelets. Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
