Has Lohan converted to Islam?

Actress-turned-socialite ‘a very spiritual person’

After deleting all of her Instagram images over the weekend, l eaving nothing but the Arabic greeting “Alaikum salam” in her bio ( meaning “peace be with you”), many have begun to suspect that Lindsay Lohan has finally and officially converted to Islam, with many fans warmly welcoming her into her alleged new faith.

The former actress-turned-socialite fuelled rumours of finding a new faith last year, after being spotted carrying a Quran in New York.

“I’m a very spiritual person and I’m really open to learning,” the Catholic- born actress said to The Sun at the time. “America has portrayed holding a Quran in such a different way to what it actually is. ... I’m not done reading it. Do you know how long that would take? It takes so long.”

Perhaps we can assume Lohan has since completed the Quran, and found her inner calling once and for all. Not that she felt supported.

“They crucified me for it in America,” she told Dawn. com. “They made me seem like Satan. I was a bad person for holding that Quran. ... I was so happy to leave ( America) and go back to London after that, because I felt so unsafe in my own country. If this ( Islam) is something that I want to learn, this is my own will.”

So much so, that Lohan even learned a spot of Arabic — maybe. While at the opening of a Greek nightclub last fall — which she apparently owns — Lohan was seen speaking with an unintelligible accent.

In an interview with the Daily Mail soon after, Lohan explained, “It’s a mixture of most of the languages I can understand or am trying to learn. I’ve been learning different languages since I was a child. I’m fluent in English and French, can understand Russian and am learning Turkish, Italian and Arabic.”

Lohan, who lives in Dubai, has also been actively working with Syrian refugees over the last year in Turkey, which is why she has also been seen sporting a head scarf.

“When the woman put that head scarf on me, I felt really honoured because she went out of her own way to allow me to be a part of my own culture and she didn’t have to do that,” she said.

So while Lohan may or may not have converted — or is simply making unusual new connections with foreign politicians (she has been quietly voicing her support here and there for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan) — one thing is for sure: she is a “very spiritual person.”

In fact, in a 2014 interview with Oprah, she gave us all a possible hint when she said, “I’ve become more spiritual as time has gone on. I ’m really in t ouch, whether it’s prayer or meditation ... there are so many powers greater than me in the world. I’ve been blessed and lucky enough to have been given a gift to share with other people.”
