Brexit’s pluses ignored

I find it somewhat ironic that an article discussing the migration of mathematical geniuses to Canada as a result of Brexit did not refer to one very basic piece of arithmetic.
The 9 billion pounds in net annual contributions that Britain will no longer be paying to the EU post-Brexit will provide ample funds for the United Kingdom government to honour its com- mitment to directly replace that lost EU funding for academia.
Moreover, Brexit will present many global opportunities to British universities, as well as challenges. Hence, while I daresay that all these British academics have good personal reasons for wanting to move to Canada, I find it somewhat surprising that your newspaper is unquestioningly swallowing the British “Remoaner” narrative that all ills befalling Britain are a result of Brexit.
