NORSEMAN CONSTRUCTION NOW ‘MIKE HOLMES-APPROVED’
TV’s Mike Holmes has set the gold standard for quality home construction and renovation in Canada. As the trusted host of HGTV home reno shows such as Holmes on Homes and Holmes Makes It Right, Holmes has proven himself to be a relentless advocate for homeowners’ rights.
This is why Canada’s most trusted contractor has launched the Holmes Approved Homes Program ( HAH). Through HAH — which can be found online at holmesapprovedhomes.com — Canadians can find builders and contractors who have been inspected and certified to meet Mike Holmes’ exacting standards.
And now, Toronto’s Norseman Construction and Development Ltd. is one of these elite few.
“I would like to welcome our newest partner, Norseman Construction, to my Holmes Approved Homes Program,” s ai d Mike Holmes. “When it comes to renovations, I’ve seen it all — the good, the bad, and the ugly. You want to hire the right pro the first time, and Norseman Construction is one of the good ones.”
Winning this certification is more than just a high honour for this family- owned firm: It is an obligation that they welcome and cherish.
“Earning the right to call Norseman Construction a Holmes Approved Homes partner validates all our efforts to do our best on behalf of our customers,” said Kris Potts, president of Norseman Construction. “It puts the stamp of Canada’s most trusted building craftsperson on our company, and assures our GTA customers that when they choose Norseman Construction, they are truly choosing someone that they can trust.”
With an impressive 83 per cent score on the consumer rating site HomeStars. com, Norseman Construction and Development Ltd. has been solving GTA homeowners’ renovation challenges since 2005.
Their consistent approach to doing business right is simple: Norseman Construction listens to its customers throughout the design and build process. They keep each customer constantly informed about their project’s progress until it is completed and do their best to ensure that every customer has received exactly what they asked for.
To earn the right to belong to the Holmes Approved Homes Program — and the only such contractor in the GTA region bounded by the Gardener Expressway east to Pickering, and south from Highway 401 to Lake Ontario — Norseman Construction has satisfied a large number of requirements.
“We met repeatedly with HAH inspectors, who were rigorous in reviewing our procedures, construction techniques and choice of building materials,” said Potts. “They also came out to many of our job sites, to ensure that we were delivering what we promise every single time.”
The high standards that Norseman Construction has to attain are spelled out at holmesapprovedhomes.com.
“The HAH is about integrating the right building products with the right technology, using the right building practices to build you a home that goes beyond residential standards, from construc- tion to final inspection,” says the website.
This includes having every project built by Norseman Construction and other HAH member companies undergo “a series of home inspections including onsite field reviews by approved Mike Holmes inspectors, which serves as a thorough, transparent record of the quality and value that exists behind the walls.”
It’s worth noting that all HAH inspectors are accredited Level 1 thermographers. They are trained to a higher standard and use specialized equipment such as thermal imaging cameras and moisture meters to provide an accurate assessment of home insulation, proper airflows, and protection against unwanted moisture ingress and buildup. When these inspectors verify that Norseman Construction is living up to its Holmes Approved status, they are doing so using the same tools and techniques used by Mike Holmes.
Norseman Construction’s attention to customer needs starts with its consultation process. “Simply book an appointment on our website ( norsemanconstruction.ca), and we will send one of our skilled estimators to your home to provide a free quotation,” said Kevin Potts, Norseman’s operations manager. “We will come up with a plan that meets your needs and fits within your budget and schedule. Then, we will build it right, just as Mike Holmes would.”
“We have said before that today’s homeowner is very savvy, thanks to all the home improvement shows on TV,” adds Becky Potts, Norseman’s marketing manager. “Joining the Holmes Approved Homes Program provides our customers with a measurable standard from a source they trust, against which our work and commitments can be assessed from the time a project is quoted to the happy day when it is done and the homeowner gets to enjoy our work.”
