Focus on space

TWO SEATING AREAS AND THERE’S EVEN ROOM FOR A PIANO LISA VAN DE VEN

-

“When I stage things, I try to not focus on the furniture, but on the room,” Ella Zetser says, and in model TH101 at Pier 27 Residences there was a lot of room to focus on: 3,066 square feet of it, to be exact. She saw it as her job to show potential buyers exactly how they could use that, dividing the living space into two seating areas, alongside the dining space and kitchen. There’s even room for a piano. “Right away when you see a piano you think ‘ that’s posh,’” adds the president of The Last Detail Home Staging. Suites at the Cityzen Development Group and Fernbrook Homes site range from 2,311 to 4,474 square feet and start at $1,819,000. The sales office is at 25 Queens Quay E., Toronto, and open Monday to Thursday from noon to 6 p.m. and weekends from noon to 5 p.m. Call 416-367-3456 or visit pier27.ca. “There’s a bit of a splash of colour here and there,” says Zetser, who added pops of blue in the art and accessories. Most of the art, though — like the furniture itself — is black and white, adding pattern rather than colour to the living spaces. “They’re traditional but cool,” Zetser says of the white living room sofas, which she contrasted with black Barcelona chairs. In between, an area rug blends with the floors, adding texture, while mirrored tables bring sparkle to the room. “It’s a mix-andmatch eclectic look,” the stager adds. While the two seating areas are predominantly white, these black linen chairs — featuring chrome nail-head detailing — give the dining room a darker tone. “I wanted the eye to go all the way to the back, and your eye typically goes to the darkest thing in the room,” says Zetser.(\ “It’s a condo downtown so I stuck to a modern feel,” the stager says, which is why she opted for a glass-top table in the dining room. Featuring a simple black base, the table is larger than what you’d find in a typical condo. “It feels grand,” Zetser says.
