Levant not the real menace
LETTERS
Re: Rebel without applause, Richard Warnica, Aug 19.
Richard Warnica records in detail the history of The Rebel and Ezra Levant. Warnica argues that the primary reporting theme of The Rebel is anti- Muslim, an extreme right- wing agenda. But he does not attempt to analyze. Admittedly, The Rebel is generally hard- hitting on most issues, and this approach has attracted both viewers/supporters and enemies. It appears that this alleged anti-Muslim slant is a strategy to counter the anti-Israel/Jewish agenda in the Muslim world.
The Rebel has delved without restraint into the practices, beliefs and experiences of this group worldwide. The approach has been working for the establishment and the Muslim community have been riled as they endeavour to portray normality of this relatively new immigrant group in the West.
Consequently The Rebel has become a target to discredit.

As a subscriber since your first edition I have to say the article by Richard Warnica was the worst piece of sleaze you have ever published. Levant is not exactly my cup of tea, either, but the rubbish and innuendo were disgusting.

Like the ancient Scriveners, I hope Richard Warnica was paid by the word for his dreary, obtuse and rambling fivepage critique of Ezra Levant’s Rebel. Whether you liked what Levant said and stood for, with which I often took issue — at least he was up front and in your face with no hidden agenda. You have to give him that much credit. As a mainstream medium in a democratic country, the Post should know that you cannot suppress an opinion by shooting the messenger.

After being away from Canada for six days, I return home to find a monumental shift of perspective for the National Post. Islam-inspired, repeated and ghoulishly blood-soaked massacres in Paris, London, Madrid, Barcelona and other places, both exotic and all- too familiar, have faded into the background while the real menace to our civilization posed by one Ezra Levant of Calgary, Alta., has been brought into a sharp and shocking focus!
Who knew?
