SAM WATERSTON SET FOR APPEARANCE ON LAW & ORDER: SVU

For many, Sam Waterston, a. k. a. Jack McCoy, was the best part of Law & Order. And now, to the delight of many, he’ll be returning to Law & Order, SVU edition, for a single episode in the show’s 19th season. So does this mean we might one day see a Law & Order revival? The trend is certainly in the air. And in 2015, NBC and franchise super producer Dick Wolf were in early talks for an update. At the time, Waterston, pictured, said to The Hollywood Reporter, “Sure, I’d love it. Got to break the record.” That record being for longest-running primetime drama series. When Law & Order went off the air in 2010 after its 20th season, it missed its chance to beat Gunsmoke’s reign by a single year. Sounds like there’s no choice but to bring it back — for history’s sake.
