Collingwood site has it all, developer says

Remo Niceforo admits he’s biased, but that doesn’t stop him from going all in on Collingwood — the location of his condominium project, Monaco.

“It’s the best place to live in the country,” says the managing partner with Stonebrook Developments.

The town two hours north of Toronto does have a lot to celebrate — from its waterside location on Georgian Bay to skiing at Blue Mountain.

“You’re 10 minutes away from the mountains, you’re a minute away from the water,” he says.

All of which makes Collingwood a go-to destination for weekend crowds — and a popular place for retirees. And Monaco is close to the town’s growing list of amenities.

“If you look at our buyer list, half are from the GTA and the other half are local Collingwood people moving from a house into a condo,” he says. “Not only do they not want to deal with the grass and snow shovelling, but they also want proximity to restaurants and to the lifestyle, and not have to get into a car every time.” 25 Steps With almost 30,000 square feet of retail space on the ground floor, Monaco residents won’t have to go far to enjoy the local amenities — not with some right downstairs. “We haven’t quite decided what’s going to be there, but we are definitely going to be doing something more sophisticated.” 150 Steps “You’re right downtown,” Niceforo says of Monaco’s location. Which means plenty of restaurants close by, including Tesoro, Cabin Bistro and The Huron Club. “If you look one block east and one block west, all within walking distance, there’s quite literally 20 good restaurants close by.” 800 Steps With many of the buyers at Monaco hoping to make Collingwood their retirement destination, health care is a top priority — and Collingwood General and Marine Hospital is just a 15-minute walk.

Suites at Monaco range from 645 to more than 2,400 square feet and are priced from the upper $ 300,000s. The sales office is at 25 Huron St., Collingwood, open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 1-7 p.m. and weekends from no onto 6 p.m. Some closures are planned over the holidays.
