WESLEY TOWER A DRAMATIC SPACE BUILT FOR FAMILIES LISA VAN DE VEN
Family-friendly doesn’t mean design compromise in the model suite for Wesley Tower at Daniels City Centre. Through high contrast and original art commissioned from local artists, The Daniels Corporation’s director of decor, Stephanie Dimopoulos, created a space that’s dramatic and suitable for kids. “It’s a nod to the mid- century modern, with a twist for today,” she says. The white laminate kitchen cabinetry is juxtaposed against black accents, while blond wood and pops of burnt orange are used throughout. “We wanted to enhance what was there and not take away from it,” Dimopoulos says. Units range from 446 to 996 square feet and start in the $300,000s. The sales office is located at 368 Prince of Wales Dr., Mississauga and open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from noon to 6 p.m., Wednesday from noon to 8 p.m. and weekends from noon to 5 p.m. Call 905-819-8889 or visit danielscitycentre.com.

“We always forget in condominiums to utilize the height,” Dimopoulos says, but she’s done exactly that in the kids’ room. Designed for a younger pair to grow up in, the room integrates this bunk bed from Wayfair, in blond wood, to flow with the rest of the suite.

Chalkboard paint makes for a fun accent wall, contrasting with a high-gloss white desk for two. Purchased from Ikea, the desk is paired with matching floating shelves above. “The accessories on the shelves just reflect the age and demographic of who’s in that space,” Dimopoulos adds.

A mid-century modern esthetic is highlighted throughout the suite, including in the living room, where Dimopoulos drew on it for inspiration when choosing the armchairs, coffee table and this “statement piece” black light fixture, which makes an impact without blocking the sightlines to the windows.

Contrast is key when it comes to the living room’s media unit, custom designed in blond wood and black laminate, with movable wood boxes that add the chance for changeability. “We created low storage along the bottom, which for a family with children is great,” the designer adds.
