Heroism of the first degree

-

Re: 27 Minutes — The Ashlyn Krell story, Jane Sims ( five- part series, Jan. 2 -Jan. 6) Writer Jane Sims, the London Free Press and the National Post are to be lauded for writing and publishing this story. The writer took the reader on a minute-by-minute trip with clarity and compassion. As a longtime retired peace officer ( RCMP), I felt a strong attachment to the actions of the emergency response personnel. It was necessary to pause several times while reading the story, to allow my eyesight to clear.

It was heartwarming to see and read that awards have been handed to those show in the picture on the last page of the story. I hope and trust that others involved will also be suitable rewarded. I’m sure that Ashlyn felt the hand of God when she recovered.

We read often of people and organizations receiving large amounts of public tax money for questionable reasons. It was a pleasure to read a true story about real people and heroism of the first degree. Thanks. R. D. S. Ward, Wetaskiwin, Alta.
