How low can they go?

-

Re: Wynne’s class warfare just may work, Editorial, Jan. 13 In the 1950s, rock and roll singer Chubby Checker had a hit record with a song called Limbo Rock, which popularized a dance craze that originated in Trinidad. In limbo dance, the contest is to see who can be the lowest going under a bar. The Ontario Liberal government could well cause a revival of this dance as time and again they keep coming up with new ways to buy votes in their desperate attempt to stay in power. It seems there is end to how low that they are willing to go. Sadly each new initiative ( think borrowing money to finance a reduction in Hydro rates) means more money out of taxpayers’ pockets and more debt for beleaguered Ontario taxpayers.

Unbelievably, if pollsters have it right, Wynne’s band of fiscal incompetents have a shot at being elected. As comedienne Joan Rivers would say, “Pullease.” I urge citizens of Ontario to send this group to the political wilderness. I would especially remind public service workers of what happened with insolvency in Greece. Please take that thought to the polling booth with you. Bob Erwin, Ottawa It is said that people get the politicians they deserve. What does that say about Ontarians? After gas plants, Ornge, eHealth, and deleted emails — this government will stop at no end to waste taxpayers’ money to perpetuate their careers. So now this premier chooses to buy votes using our money from the only groups she hasn’t yet offended — those on minimum wage and unions. It is shameful. Ontario used to be known as the “economic engine” of this great country. Nowadays we are just known for being the most indebted sub- sovereign borrower in the world. Gordon J. Akum, Toronto
