Shutting out the faithful

- Ross Fidler, Orillia, Ont.

Re: PM discriminates against people of faith, Editorial, Jan. 20 I can no longer vote for any party that holds freedom of conscience in such appallingly low regard. Justin Trudeau once admired the “basic dictatorship” in China. Under his leadership, the Liberals ( for the first time in Canada’s history) have shut out people of faith from their party, and have stupidly contributed to the polarization of Canadian politics. One has only to look south of the border to see where this can lead a nation. Julie Bartlett, North Vancouver In 1933, after running on an anti- non- Aryan ( antiJewish) platform, the Nazi party’s first law supporting its position was the “Restoration of a Professional Civil Service” — Jews were not allowed to be employed in the civil service.

A segment of taxpaying Germans was then i neligible for employment by the state.

By restricting eligibility to the summer j obs program to only those organizations that support or agree with the Liberals’ abortion position ( an i dentifiable group of Canadians), the first step to establishing a fascist government was presented.

Will t he Li beral s be screening all applicants to government j obs f or their position on abortion in the future? This is not a defence of human rights under the Charter, it is a way to force Canadians to support a Liberal position — unacceptable in a democratic society and one that supports religious freedom. Trash t his program and trash this government as soon as possible.
