The 2018 Canadian International AutoShow ( the AutoShow) is Canada’s premier automotive event.

Scheduled to take over the Metro Toronto Convention Centre February 16- 25, 2018, the AutoShow will feature 40 reveals of cutting- edge cars. These reveals will include three cars that have never been seen in North America before, plus seven concept cars that are new to Canada.

That’s j ust the beginning: The 2018 AutoShow will showcase the f astest production car on the planet, the Koenigsegg Agera RS supercar. Owner of five world speed records, the Agera RS clocked a top speed of over 277mph in November 2017, taking the fastest production car title from the Bugatti Chiron.

Also under the spotlight at the 2018 AutoShow is 70 Years of Porsche, an exhibition featuring iconic Porsche automobiles i ncluding the 1948 Porsche 356; the production car that started it all.

Visitors to the AutoShow can also take in the Auto Exotica display of uberluxury cars made by Aston Martin, Bugatti, Lamborghini, and McLaren. The Art & The Automobile exhibit highlights history’s most artistic automotive mascots, and the EVolution Zone electric vehicle ( EV) showcases electric cars for viewing — and test- driving.

Another AutoShow mustsee is the 50th Anniversary of Hot Wheels celebration. Dedicated to this iconic Mattel creation with over six billion Hot Wheels produced to date, this display includes six life- sized Hot Wheels vehicles.

Things were very different when the AutoShow began in 1974. “Back then, the focus was on the launch of the new models being introduced in the ever- important spring selling season, so it was a very vertical presentation of cars only,” said David McClean, AutoShow Director of Marketing Services. “Since then we have gone from a ‘cars on carpet’ presentation to what we now refer to as the ‘ total automotive experience’. In doing so, we have gained global recognition as being one of the most progressive automotive events with the features we build, the services we offer, and the overall experience that we work with our partners on to impress the attending audience.”

Today’s AutoShow is certainly car- centric, but the total automotive experience encompasses so much more. “We focus on all aspects associated with people and their relationships with cars because cars are

now an integral part of our lives and our lifestyle,” McClean said. “But we never stop working with the auto manufacturers to bring more content to the AutoShow each year; more concept cars, more new model introductions, and more of the auto industry in all of its diversity in this country and abroad.”

Nearly 340,000 people attending last year’s AutoShow, and this year’s premier auto event is likely to be just as popular; if not more so.

“Great f eatures, more new models, interactive experiences — the AutoShow is never the same,” said McClean. This is why the 2018 Canadian International AutoShow is a can’t- miss event for all car lovers, from casual tire- kickers to diehard motorheads.
