‘MARILYN MONROE’ TOWERS MAKE GLOBAL TOP 10 LIST
They like us! They really like us! Architectural Digest asked a group of top architects to name the 10 best-designed buildings in the world, and a pair of curvaceous residential high-rises in Mississauga made the list. Built in 2012 by Beijing-based MAD Architects, the Absolute Towers boast continuous see-through balconies and elliptical floor plans. The structures are 50 and 56 storeys
tall, and were ranked at No. 10 on the list. At first nicknamed the “Marilyn Monroe towers,” they won the Best Tall Buildings in the Americas award in 2012. Other buildings on the list include the quadrilateral Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre in Reykjavik, Iceland; the 2,717-foot tall Burj Khalifa in Dubai; and the parabolic Gardens by the Bay in Singapore.
