Just do it
Re: Adventure gap in our wilderness, Joseph Brean, May 29
I wonder how people of colour in Canada feel about Jacqueline Scott’s thesis that their apparent scarcity on the ski hills and hiking paths is due to intimidation they feel about participating in these very Canadian recreational pursuits.
Ms. Scott maintains that “people of colour want to do it, but they need a bridge to get them there”; and “thus black women who ski face a triple racialization due to the perception of race, landscape and the activity.”
We live in a free and open society where anyone regardless of race or gender or ability/disability has the choice to partake according to their own volition. This is your bridge. Just do it! Susan Dane, Toronto
