BOMBARDIER TO SPEND MILLIONS ON TORONTO HUB

Bombardier Inc. will spend millions supporting academic research and the establishm­ent of an aerospace hub in Toronto’s Downsview area. The plane and train maker announced Thursday it would provide funding for various projects, including a $1.5-million investment in the Toronto Aeromateri­als Research Centre to support work on aircraft noise reduction, advanced cabin developmen­t

and other research. The company will support nearly $1 million toward the Downsview Aerospace Innovation and Research Consortium’s Innovation Centre, and provide $1 million toward the creation of two Aerospace Research Centres with Ryerson University and the University of Toronto. It will also give $2.5 million to refurbish a heritage building.
